Skill Failure: Insight
Let us suppose for a moment that I'm running two NPC in a given 5E game. One is lying and the other being honest. The players suspect both of lying so they decide to roll an Insight check which could either be rolled in the open by the players or rolled in secret by the DM. Two characters are making this Insight check where one is naturally trusting and the other naturally suspicious. The matrix of results for such a roll would like like this:
Why Go O.S.R.?
I've been reflecting a lot about what I'd like to do next in gaming. As much as I wish it were otherwise I still struggle a bit with playing 5E vs going OSR. The CR System Is Broken and WOTC Shouldn’t Fix It
I was watching an interview regarding the release of “Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse” in which Todd Kenreck and Jeremy Crawford were discussing why they made the monsters tougher in the upcoming release. Running Sandbox Games: “Rage of Demons” to “Storm King’s Thunder”
I’ve been running Adventure’s League at my FLGS since the “Rage of Demons” story line. Some of my favorite parts of “Rage of Demons,” “Curse of Strahd” and “Storm King’s Thunder” have been the sandbox portions. You see I love running open world games. I’d like to encourage you to love them too.
